Pharmacy Scope:

The scope of Pharm.D in Pakistan is growing as the healthcare system improves. Pharmacists are now seen as important members of the healthcare team. Their role is no longer limited to just giving out medicines—they now work in hospitals, help patients use medicines safely, take part in research, and contribute to pharmaceutical companies and health departments. As awareness about proper medicine use and patient care increases, more job opportunities are opening up for Pharm.D graduates. To further improve the profession, we are also working on introducing innovation in the Pharm.D program—bringing in modern concepts, clinical skills, and practical training to break away from outdated ideas and expand the scope of pharmacy in Pakistan.

Career Opportunities:

The student will be able to work as:

  • Community/ retail Pharmacist: Working in retail pharmacies, giving medications, and offering healthcare advice or consultations.
  • Hospital Pharmacist: Working with medical teams to ensure correct prescriptions and dosage.
  • Clinical Pharmacist: More patient-centered, helping doctors make medication-related decisions.
  • Industrial Pharmacist: Working in pharmaceutical companies in drug formulation, production, and quality control.
  • Regulatory Affairs: Ensuring products meet legal and scientific standards.
  • Industrial Research & Development (R&D): Developing new drugs and therapies.
  • Research Pharmacist: Research in the clinical research organization
  • Academia: Teaching and research roles at universities.
  • Pharmacovigilance: Monitoring and evaluating adverse effects of drugs.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • FSc pre-medical or equivalent (minimum 60% marks)
  • 1st-year candidates (however, their final eligibility shall be determined from overall 60% marks in 1st and 2nd year examinations).

Duration:

  • 5 years (10 semesters)
  • Each year consists of two semesters.
